Northwest Chicago FCA

To see the world transformed by Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes.

Who We Are!

  • CHRIS DRENTH - AREA Director

While finishing his bachelors degree in Christian Ministries at Judson University, Chris met his wife, served as an intern with FCA, discipled coaches, and served at multiple camps with High School and elementary aged kids. Three years later, God called Chris into full-time ministry with FCA to spend his time discipling coaches and athletes to live and lead for Christ. He loves taking daily walks with his wife, Caryssa, his daughter Eleanor, and their dog, Delilah.

After participating on back to back Big Ten Football Championship Football teams at Northwestern University and finishing his Bachelors of Science in the late 90's. Ty went  on to work for FCA in 2000, then began working as a pastor (now at Fellowship Life Bible Church, near Elgin, IL), earned a Masters of Divinity Degree from Moody Theological Seminary, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. In his 20th year of involvement with FCA, Ty still finds incredible joy in being in the trenches of life with coaches, athletes, and helping to support the raising up of new staff and interns in the FCA Ministry. His greatest joy is shepherding his wife and daughters in the ways of Christ.

Much of Ty's time with FCA is spent discipling NFL & collegiate coaches & athletes, discipling and raising support for staff, and equipping and empowering coaches and athletes around Chicagoland and beyond.

  • Ben Anspaugh - Area Representative

While completing his bachelor's degree in Exercise Science at Valparaiso University, Ben served as the FCA club president on campus serving dozens of athletes through discipleship and evangelism. After completing an internship with FCA in the summer of 2021, Ben began determining what it could look like to spend his life ministering to coaches and athletes through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. As of July 2022, Ben has officially come on full-time staff as an Area Representative to disciple local coaches and athletes. He focuses on intentional weekly discipleship with college male athletes while providing resources and assistance to coaches and ministry leaders in local high schools.

  • Andrea Sinnaeve - Coach support representative

After nine years sharing the gospel and discipling in Asia, Andrea was prepared to make a great impact on coaches and athletes in Kane County. She was released from the foreign mission field due to a worldwide pandemic. Currently, Andrea uses her sports background and heart for Christ to reach and train the next generation, discipling women through sports coaches and teams.

Andrea grew up locally and participated in basketball, track and cross country throughout middle and high school. After professing Christ and being trained in evangelism and discipleship, Andrea is excited to enter back into the sports world!

What We Do!

Check out some of the ways we serve!

  • Coaches

Coaches live stressful, tiresome, demanding lives. We seek to lighten the burden by pointing them to the truth and grace found only in Christ. We help coaches serve their families, serve their teams, and serve the Lord as they grow in spiritual maturity.

Take a look at some the resources we use to empower coaches:

  • Camps

Camps are a time for middle schoolers and high schoolers to be equipped physically for the battle in the arena as well as equipped spiritually for their lives. We host camps at Judson University in Elgin, IL as well as at Illinois College in Jacksonville, IL.

  • Community

There are specific FCA groups that meet in the community who bond over mutual faith in Christ and a love for sports. Some examples are:

Running or Walking Huddle - These groups meet together periodically to pray, exercise, represent, or raise funds for the work of FCA ministry.

Serving Groups - Periodically an FCA Coaches, Campus, or Community Huddle will get together to serve at Wayside Cross Ministries to make an impact for Christ or to come alongside other Gospel ministries who are making an impact for Christ.

  • campus

Campus Ministry is composed of a certified group of FCA leaders who lead FCA bible studies to impact the campus for Christ. Campus huddles happen on Professional teams and school campuses across the country. Even Club sports have their own FCA huddles. 18,000+ Huddles exist around the world. There are FCA campus huddles all around Chicagoland.

Judson University has long been a focus area for Kane County FCA ministry. For the past two decades, the campus has been blessed with a presence of Christ-like coaches and athletes. Many people from the campus have gone on to join staff with FCA as well as support the ministry financially because of the impact they received.
